The Mésouthern is; a French shipping company based in the city; of Marseilles, was born in 1931 when two Rastit brothers married the daughters of shipowner Giannoni de Cassano. The Company begins however; connections only in 1937 with a freight transport service to Corsica.

In 1988, the Company transformed the ships so that they could also accommodate passengers and vehicles, starting a daily scheduled service in the Mediterranean, connecting mainland France with Corsica.
